Email Marketing Campaign, pt. 1

A month or so ago I started an email campaign to identify prospects and hopefully obtain some new clients. Here are my stats so far:

emails sent: 71

replies: 15 (21.13%)

contracts: 1 (1.41%)

In Emma Hitt’s book Freelance Medical Writing, she states that a campaign of this nature generally leads to approximately 10% replies and 1% contracts. So far I seem to be doing a little better for replies, possibly due to the fact that I am not a complete newbie and/or my snazzy website design. I have also been as careful as I can to identify good prospects that might actually have need for a freelance writer. Now I just hope some of these prospects can turn into actual paid jobs.
